Cebu faces uphill battle in home game vs Makati

-

Bruised and battered, the Cebu City Sharks hope to salvage a little sense of pride before their hometown fans when they play host to the Makati Skyscrapers today in the 2018 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Datu Cup at the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Basak Campus gymnasium.

the Game time is set at 9 p.m. Cebu is known at hotbed of basketball outside of Metro Manila but unfortunately it doesn’t reflect in its standings as of

the moment. The slumping Sharks are among the league’s tail-enders with a pitiful record of one win against eight losses.

After dropping their first four assignments including a game to forget where they went scoreless in the entire first quarter in a heart-rending 107-76 defeat at the hands of the Manila Stars last June 24, the Sharks found some light with a breakthrough victory against the defending champion Batangas City Athletics.

But that was by far their brightest moment as they dropped another set of four games to find themselves at No. 25 in a field of 26 teams.

No one can tell when the bleeding will end for the Sharks, more so that they are expected to face a tall order against the Skyscrapers, who are holding a 6-3 record coming off back-to-back wins.

Before the Sharks will take on the Skyscrapers, the Zamboanga Valientes will go up against the Basilan Steel in the 7 p.m. opener.

The Valientes will try to arrest a three-game skid that dropped them to 4-5, while the Steel is seeking to improve their 4-6 slate.
