Jerusalem to battle Landero in IDOL 4

- Lariosa — Gloreitta T.

One-time world title challenger Melvin 'Gringo' Jerusalem (13-2, 8KOs) continues his quest to get another crack at a world championship as he headlines the fourth edition of 'IDOL' boxing series against journeyman Toto 'Muscovado' Landero (10-3, 2KOs) on November 4 at the Minglanilla Sports Complex.

"I really want to get another shot at the world title. I doubled my time in training because I really want to prove that I am still a world title contender," said Jerusalem in a press conference yesterday at the St.Mark's Hotel.

The 24-year-old Jerusalem got the chance to be a world champion when he challenged Thai legend Wanheng Menayothin for the WBC minimumweight title but lost via unanimous decision last year in Phitsanulok, Thailand.

ALA chief trainer Edito Villamor said that he still believes that Jerusalem is one of the brightest prospect from the ALA Gym, but he needs to level up on his game to finally fulfill his dream of becoming a world champion.

"Si Landero man gud is a great fighter, nindot ni sya nga makontra ni Melvin aron makita niya kung asa na dapita iyang level aron mo level up ang iyang experience as a boxer. Pareha silang nakaduwa og world title fight ug pareha sila 15 fights so nindot gyud ni nga bout," said Villamor.

In the supporting bouts, Jerusalem's stablemates in Esneth Domingo and Christian Bacolod will take on respective foes. Domingo (10-0, 6KOs) will protect his unblemished record against Reymar Taday, while Christian Bacolod (9-0, 7KOs) will take on Chrstival Furog.

The rest of the fightcard features Kervent Aresco vs Jemuel Azucenas, Mark Bato vs Danny Villafuerte, Joyjoy Formentera vs Delfin De Asis and Elmo Traya vs Jun Ryan Quimbo.
