The Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 has assured the public it is ready for the observance of the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day next week.

PRO-7 Director Debold Sinas said that cops will be stationed to maintain peace and order in the 44 cemeteries in the region.

He said they are expecting about 1.4 to 1.5 million people to flock to the major cemeteries in the metro, based on the part year’s data and also because of the fair weather the past few days.

“Karon tuiga, we are expecting more, mas modaghan ang tawo kay ang weather fair pud. So, more visitors gyud, less hindrance when it comes to visiting,” Sinas said in a press conference, after conducting a region-wide coordinating plan for Undas 2018.

He also said that PRO-7 is anticipating a rise in the number of crimes in the tourist zone cities, such as in Cebu, Bohol, Dumaguete and Oslob town in the southern part of Cebu, for the Undas.

He said that directives to intensify police visibility and patrolling have been given to the respective provincial and city commanders.

As a precaution, the PRO-7 has also coordinated with port and airport authorities to keep an eye of those who may want to take advantage of the volume of people arriving, and sneak in drugs or all other form of contrabands.

He said that the police will be augmented in bus stations and will secure roll-on, roll-off (RORO) vessel ports.

It was previously reported that illegal drugs traders oftentimes use the RORO as a mode of transportation, as it is reportedly more discreet rather than taking bus or other sea vessels.

PRO-7 will go on full alert status by midnight on October 30, or two days before the All Saints’ Day.

“Hopefully our people will be alert, all in all we are prepared for this one, all systems go na,” Sinas said.
