USPF boys near CESAFI volleyball title
The University of Southern Philippines Foundation spikers are now one game away in reclaiming the secondary division championship after a thrilling five-setter over University of San Carlos in Game 1 of their best-of-three finals series in the 18th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) volleyball tournament yesterday at the USC gymnasium.
USPF boys, who won the title two years ago, showed extreme composure as they outlasted the USC in their own turf.
USC took the first set, 25-23, but the gritty USPF bounced back in the second and third set. The Carolinians forced a decider after notching the fourth canto, 25-19, but USPF proved to be the more determined squad in the fifth set, 15-13.

In the battle-for-third place, University of San Jose-Recoletos subdued Southwestern UniversityPhinma, 25-20, 25-27,25-21.
In the girls action, the USC belles won against the Sacred Heart SchoolAteneo de Cebu (SHSAdC) Magis Eagles, 25-19, 16-25, 25-22 to finish at third place this season.
Meanwhile, University of the Visayas men’s squad improved their standing to 4-3 at the expense of USC, 25-23, 22-25, 25-22, 1625, 15-12.
