CSBT operations smooth despite influx of passengers
Despite the heavy influx of passengers, the operation of the Cebu South Bus Terminal this Undas was peaceful and orderly.
CSBT manager Jonathan Tumulak said that there were no major untoward incidents at the terminal. Medical and police teams were deployed at the terminal to ensure safety of the passengers.
Tumulak expressed gratitude to the local government units that sent buses to ferry passengers for free in the event that the commercial buses have left the terminal.
The deployment was earlier than what was anticipated by the management.
The queue was extended outside the terminal since the facility’s capacity is only 2,000 individuals.
“Nidagsa ang mga tawo kay tinguli ug ting-sweldo. Expected gyud,” he said.
For routes up to Sibonga town, the passengers had to wait for at least two hours. For the trips bound for Bato, Samboan, the waiting time was three to four hours.
“Mas dugay kay dugay man makabalik ang bus,” he explained.
From 266,000 last year, the management is anticipating around 300,000 passengers this year.
As of yesterday afternoon, the terminal operations are back to normal as there are already lesser people as compared to last Wednesday night.
There were also no buses from the LGUs yesterday.
On Nov. 4, there are also buses from the LGUs that will ferry passengers from Carcar City and Dumanjug town to CSBT.
Meanwhile, Tumulak said that he has not received reports about buses who are overcharging. He said that if the passengers have complaints, it should be coursed through CSBT management or the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
