One of the crowd favorites and the winningest Sinulog contingent, Sinanduloy Cultural Troupe of Tangub City, has already expressed intention to join the competition next year.

Tangub City has always been the crowd favorite and has the most number of titles-- 12 titles in the 20 years of joining the competition. The group did not join in this year’s competition but still performed as guest contingent.

Cebu City Councilor David Tumulak, over-all chairperson of Sinulog 2019, said the Tangub City is one of the out-of-town contingents that expressed to join next year.

“As of this time, there are three outof-town contingents that expressed to join such as; Murcia, Negros Occidental; Placer, Surigao del Norte, Tangub City, Misamis Occidental,” he said.

Tumulak said an official of Tangub City has asked an invitation to join the Sinulog 2019 competition. Tangub City was hailed grand champion in the Sinulog Grand parade in the years 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, and 2017.

Tumulak said the deadline for registration of contingents would be on November 16.

As for the Sinulog sa Barangay, there are 13 barangays that have registered-Suba, Sawang Calero, Basak San Nicolas, Guadalupe, Labangon, Sapangdaku, Talamban, Mabolo, Mambaling, Cogon Pardo, Cambinocot, San Nicolas Proper, and Inayawan.

For the Sinulog sa Lalawigan, at least four contingents have expressed interest to join. These are Talisay, Carcar, Bogo, and Ginatilan.

Meanwhile, Tumulak reminded everyone of the rules and regulations to maintain the peace and order in the celebration of Sinulog Festival.

He said that vendors are required to get a special permit and identification cards from the city government.

“Part ni sa atoang security preparations sa tanan nga mga maninda naa gyud sila’y ID anang higayona para dili ta malutsan ug ang tanang mga vendors kinahanglan magparehistro, ang deadline until December 14,” he added.

Tumulak said the entertainment ban was already approved in the City Council during its regular session last Tuesday.

He said holding events like concerts and parties within the 300-meter radius along the Sinulog Grand Parade route is prohibited from January 19, 2019 at 6 a.m. to January 21 at 6 a.m. —
