Three persons died in separate shooting incidents in the cities of Cebu and Mandaue in a span of 18 hours.

Around 6 p.m. last Tuesday, victim Sirico Gabiana Sadora, 58, who works as a habalhabal driver, was shot dead by an unidentified assailant wearing a bonnet in Sitio Lantawan, Barangay Quiot, Cebu City.

Case investigator Senior Police Officer 1 Jojie Magdadaro said the victim suffered a gunshot wound and was brought to the Cebu City Medical Center, but did not make it alive.

Magdadaro said that a love-triangle and a land dispute are seen as initial motives in the killing, based on the accounts of the family.

“Gisubay, personal grudge. Naa ni siya murag problema sa yuta, basi sa interview sa iyang mga anak niya, daghan na ni live-in partner niagi,” Magdadaro said.

In another shooting incident, 57-year- old taxi driver Victorio Molina was shot dead by unknown assailants, who posed as passengers, in Barangay Tisa, Cebu City yesterday dawn.

Based on the accounts of the witnesses, the passengers flagged the taxi near Barangay Tisa's food strip and reportedly announced a robbery several meters away.

“Sa may tiange daw ni siya gipara, unya pag-abot na didto sa village, medyo ngitngit man, didto na gitira. Nisuway ni pagsukol ang driver kay gipusil na man gyud siya, wala na lang gikuha ang kwarta,” Magdadaro said.

He added a resident nearby heard the gunshot and reported it to the cops.

Molina succumbed to a gunshot wound to his temple and died on the spot.

The police were able to retrieve the dash camera attached inside the taxi but they found it useless since the memory card was already full and would no longer record.

In Mandaue City, a man was shot by unidentified assailants onboard a motorcycle yesterday noon in front of a mall in Barangay Basak, Mandaue City.

Charlie Dumadapat, 33, a resident of Barangay Pagsabungan, was shot in the head and was rushed to the City District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Senior Inspector Rodgene Fudotan, chief of Jagobiao Police Station 3, said that based on their initial investigation, the victim was just standing at the side of the street when the unknown assailants passed by and shot him.

The assailants immediately fled. An empty shell from an unidentified firearm was recovered from the crime scene.

The motive of the crime has yet to be determined but police are eyeing that the incident is drug-related.

Further investigation noted that Dumadapat was heading to a court hearing for a drug case, Fudotan said.

The police are still conducting followup investigations on the three shooting incidents.
