Security preparations for the fluvial procession in honor of Lapu-Lapu City's patron, the Virgin of the Rule (Our Lady of the Rule), are already in place, said Mayor Paz Radaza.

The annual fluvial procession is slated for November 12. It will start at 6 a.m. from the waters off Pacific Cebu Resort until the Muelle Port, a few meters away from the church.

"Okay naman, in place na," she told reporters yesterday.

The fluvial parade will also pass by barangays Maribago, Marigondon, Mactan, Punta Engaño, Ibo, Pajo, and Poblacion.

The fluvial procession is part of Lapu-Lapu's celebration of the feast of its patron saint, which will be on November 21.

From the port, Radaza, Vice Mayor Marcial Ycong and the members of the City Council will carry the holy image going to the church.

The Holy Mass will start at 9 a.m. following the transfer of the holy image.

The housing of the holy icon in the church marks the start of the nine-day novena, which will end on November 20.

The old icon of the Mahal nga Birhen sa Regla has been looked up to by devotees as miraculous.

Radaza advised the devotees and the public to observe and follow security measures to avoid inconvenience.

"Dugukon man gyud sa katawhan. Ang ako lang is be careful and dili magdinuotay. Ang among gihimo ron gibutangan natog police visibility around the area ug ang mga force multipliers," she said.
