4th Davies Paints Cup kicks off this pm
Six teams led by defending champion Bio-Fresh will fight it out for hardcourt supremacy as the fourth edition of the annual Architects+Engineers Basketball Association's Davies Paints Cup takes off today at the University of San Carlos (USC)-Main gym.
The event was formally launched by the top officials of A+EBA led by their president Jun Villacorta, immediate past president Rolan Paolo Alberto and vice president for operations Josephril Partosa the other day at Club Filipino de Cebu, FGU tower in Cebu Business Park.
Before the games, a simple opening ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m. starting off with the traditional parade of athletes. The other highlight of the affair is the selection of best muse.
Out to challenge BioFresh reign are Sun & Rain, Powerfloor, Megacryl, Mondo Skimcoat, and Liquid-Tile.
The contenders will play in a single round robin
elimination format. They will then be divided into two brackets based on their rankings in the playoffs/ quarterfinal stage where they will clash in another single round robin.
The top two finishers in each bracket will advance to the crossover semifinals (A1 vs B2 and B1 vs A2). The winners will face off each other for the championship in a winner-takeall affair, while the losers will battle for third place.
Presented by Davies Paints Philippines, the threemonth tournament is also backed up by Kohler, Daikin Airconditioning, Trimar Construction and Trading, and Phoenix Building System Corporation.
