It has been three days and counting since the Sangguniang Kabataan chairman of Barangay Tigbao, Badian town was reported missing by his family and the police remain clueless of what had happened to the young official.

Reynell Cantila was last seen by his friend and SK councilman Arthur Villar on Thursday evening. Villar said Cantila left his house at around 10 p.m. on Thursday after having a massage.

The SK chairman drove his motorcycle but did not make it home. His motorcycle was found abandoned at a bridge in Barangay Manduyong. His parents received a text message from him on Friday apparently asking for help. Since then, there was no contact from him.

Inspector Elmond Mondaya, Badian Police chief, suspects that Cantila was kidnapped. Mondaya said they now have persons of interest who were allegedly seen by a witness with Cantila hours before he was missing.

Mondaya said they are now on the process of inviting these people for questioning. He, however, admitted that they do not have evidence yet to prove that they are responsible in the disappearance of Cantila.

“Naa mi gimonitor diri. Allegedly naa man nakakita nga sila daw kuyog pero kung pangutanon sila mohimakak man,” Mondaya said.

He said they are having a hard time looking for evidence because there are no closed-circuit television cameras in the area.

“Lapad kaayo ang atong giconsider nga mga possibility kay wala ni siyay police records, dili sad ni siya membro sa fraternity. Wala man sad daw ni siyay kaaway,” Mondaya said.
