28th Cebu City Olympic begins today

Over 15,000 athletes from different school in the Queen City of the South will once again flex their athletic muscles as they converge in the 28th Cebu City Olympics that kicks off today in different venues.

Cebu City Olympics is the selection process for the city's representa­tive to the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Associatio­n (CVIRAA) Meet.

A total of 26 sporting events are featured in this year's competitio­n that includes archery, arnis, athletics, badminton, billiard, boxing, football, scrabble, sepak takraw, swimming, baseball, softball, basketball, chess, cultural, gymnastics, karatedo, taekwondo, wrestling, wushu, pencak silat, dancesport, futsal, tennis, table tennis and volleyball.

Most of the events will be played at the Cebu City Sports Center and SM Seaside City.

CCSC will host athletics, badminton, billiard, boxing, football, scrabble, sepak takraw and swimming while chess, cultural, gymnastics, karatedo, taekwondo, wrestling, wushu and pencak silat will take place in SM Seaside City.

Baseball and softball will be played at Labangon Elementary School, archery at Sugbu Compound in South Road Properties (SRP), arnis in Ramon Duterte Memorial National High School, dancesport will be at the Cebu City Sports Institute, futsal is in Don Bosco Technical Center gym, tennis is at City Green, table tennis is at University of Cebu, volleyball is at University of Southern Philippine­s Foundation gym, while basketball will be played in three venues that includes Cebu City Sports Institute, Cebu Eastern College and Cebu Coliseum.

The four-day multisport­ing event will cap off this Sunday with the closing and awarding ceremony taking place at SM Seaside. —
