Athletes from the University of Cebu once again wield their athletic prowess with finesse on the way to another secondary division title in the 28th 28th Cebu City Olympics, which finally came to a close yesterday at SM Seaside City.

After dominating this year’s Milo Little Olympics-Visayas last month, UC once again reigned supreme after tallying 57 gold, 57 silver and 47 bronze medals. UC got its bulk of the golds from the athletics, archery, table tennis, taekwondo and gymnastics.

The University of San Carlos settled for second place with 3632-28 gold-silver-bronze medals, while Abellana National School wound up third with its 20-20-19 medal tally.

In the elementary competition, Unit I composed of athletes from Don Vicente Rama Memorial Elementary School, Basak Community School, Mangabon, Punta Princesa, Tisa II, Toong, Buhisan and Pamutan reigned supreme with 25 golds, 22 silvers and 23 bronzes.

Unit V is the closes pursuer with a 25-16-21 performance as UC placed third with 23-12-6 medal tally.

Though UC missed a double victory, UC athletic head Jessica Jawad-Honoridez is happy with their athletes performance.“Our target was really to get the overall championships in the secondary division. We only have a few athletes in the elementary and I am happy that we still landed at third," she said.

During the final day of the multi-sporting event, University of San Jose Recoletos took home the gold medal in the secondary football after a 6-4 victory over Don Bosco Technical College, while the Bosconians bounced back in the elementary action with a 5-0 shutout over Lahug.

The four-day event is the selection process for the city's representative to the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet. —
