- WELCOMING A FORTUITOUS YEAR RIFE WITH POSSIBILITIES INTENT ON PERFECTING, NOT TO NEEDLESSLY REDEFINE

Hosting traditional Chinese Lion and Dragon Dances at the hotel’s main entrance and lobby on this year’s Chinese New Year’s day on February 5, the occasion doubled as the formal introduction of the hotel’s new team members to VIP guests and members of the media – all-in-all prefiguring the many highs that’re to be expected to be paved by the hotel in 2019.

Leading the hotel’s Chinese New Year celebration this year was hotel manager Rex Benhur Caballes, who was all smiles as members of the Cebu Wushu Traditional Lion and Dragon Dance troupe performed traditional dance routines.

Like previous Chinese New Year celebrations at the hotel, this year’s was mainlined by the “cai qing” ceremony – a traditional Lion Dance component that entails having a Lion pluck “greens” that’re attached on the entrance of an establishment.

The “plucking of the greens” is widely considered to be an integral part of Lion Dance traditions, symbolic of welcoming the coming of good luck and fortune. This year’s Lion Dance at the hotel ended with the traditional offering of auspicious fruits with Caballes taking lead.

The celebration was then capped by a traditional Dragon Dance performed by the members of the Cebu Wushu Traditional Lion and Dragon Dance troupe.

Following the Lion and Dragon Dances, Caballes invited guests and members of the media to the hotel’s signature restaurant ‘Uno’ to introduce three new members of the hotel team – Executive Chef Tristan Encarnacion, Food and Beverage Manager April Lyn Pinay and Safety and Security Manager Pancho Ramirez Jr.

All trained and experienced in the rudimentary details of their positions, the new team members are set on perfecting the finer points of their duties and responsibilities – guided by the wisdom in the saying “not much can be gained from needlessly reinventing the wheel, as opposed to the gains that can be had in perfecting it”.

In setting this view towards their respective fields, the hotel’s new team members stand by Waterfront Airport Hotel & Casinos commitment to highlighting the best from Cebu, in more ways than one.
