CTU rules SCUAA anew

The Cebu Technologi­cal University (CTU) successful­ly clinched their third straight overall championsh­ip in the State Colleges and Universiti­es Athletic Associatio­n (SCUAA) Regional Meet the other day at the Cebu City Sports Center.

CTU finished the three-day multi-sporting event with 127 gold, 81 silver and 52 bronze medals, while Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) came in second with 100 gold, 59 silver and 45 bronze medals.

"I would like to express my gratitude to our University President Dr. Rosein A. Ancheta Jr. and to all CTU sports coordinato­rs, coaches, assistant coaches and athletes who really played and gave their best for the love of the game. We would not achieve this feat without their unwavering efforts and support," said CTU sports director Nemia Zamora.

Cebu Normal University (CNU) finished third with a 3164-56 gold-silver-bronze medals followed by Bohol Island State University (BISU) with a 30-73107 tally. Siquijor State College (SSC) was a distant fifth with six golds, four silvers and 12 bronzes.

CTU earned bulk of its golds from athletics (33) and arnis (25). They also got golds in karatedo (14), basketball (10) baseball (9), lawn tennis (8), volleyball (6), table tennis (4), badminton (4), chess (4), dancesport (4), beach volleyball (2), swimming (2) and one each from boxing and taekwondo.
