Organized by the Commission of the Laity, the annual Walk for Life for the Youth gathered around 4,000 participants from all around Cebu and other places.

The procession started from Fuente Osmeña Circle going to the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral. The participants were holding lighted candles while praying the rosary. The Walk for Life is a simultaneous activity nationwide.

A Eucharistic Mass presided by Archbishop Jose Palma followed the walk.

Before the mass began, Dr. Rene Josef Bullecer, vice-president of the Commission of the Laity, explained the purpose of the walk.

He said that the walk is a reminder to Catholics for them to love life and remember how sacred it is.

"We say no to abortion. We say no to death penalty. We say no to divorce," he said.

As a pro-life advocate, he enjoined his co-advocates to stand up against those people who want to pass laws on divorce or abortion.

During the mass, Palma said that the focus of the event is the youth because 2019 is also the Year of the Youth.

He reminded them to be thankful for the life God has given them and therefore, they should uphold its sanctity.

He also told the youth to share their blessings to the less fortunate in the community.

In an interview, Palma said that every person has a right to be given a second chance if he has committed mistakes in the past.

Frank Gerard Margallo,Youth Coordinator for the Commission on Youth, is thankful for the activity which is part of the preparation for the National Youth Day.
