5 fall for selling regulated drugs

Five people allegedly distributing regulated drugs for Sinulog parties were arrested by the police during an entrapment operation Thursday night along Juana Osmeña Street in Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City.

The suspects were identified as Al-Sharief Jinulla Sulpicio, 25; Reypie Isarat Jabulla, 29; Alhabsal Dayan Bantayan,36; Aljes Julpi Ambabang, 22; and Al-Cimar Jinulla Sulpicio,27, all residents of Barangay Sambag II, Cebu City.

Members of the City Intelligence Branch caught them selling Valium worth P42,000 to undercover police operative during a buy-bust operation. Cebu City Police Office director Col. Engelbert Soriano said the operation was a result of their intelligence monitoring on the expected proliferation of illegal drugs for the Sinulog.

“Ang Valium ay tranquilizer yan pag ka yan ay ininom ng tao, ang normal na isip nyan ay makakatulog ang tao pero pag yan ay hinaluan mo ng drugs o kaya ay alcohol, dyan na nasisiraan ng utak ang tao,” Soriano said.

Police Major Randy Caballes, CIB Chief, said the names of the suspects came up during their monitoring as part of the security measures to prevent the entry of illegal drugs in Sinulog parties. They immediately conducted surveillance to validate the information prior to the buy-bust operation. Caballes said the suspects normally sell Valium to the tourists.

“Para Sinulog na siya. Kana ganing mga turista gikan nag-inom, nya ganahan sila magpakalma,mupahuway, mao na siyay gamiton nila. Kadalasan mugamit ani mga foreigner, mga turista,” Caballes said.

“Ang Valium kasi prescription drug kasi yan.Parang kun baga sa baril, okay ang baril kung meron kang lisensya but if you don’t have any prescription given by a license physician and you’re on possession of Valium, magiging prohibited drugs sya,” Soriano explained.

Aside from Valium, the police are also monitoring another type of drugs that they claimed to be more potent than ecstasy.
