- C. Bonjoc/GAN Gabriel

An alleged mentally-ill son reportedly killed his father and injured his mother inside their house at Sitio Libo, Barangay Mohon, Talisay City yesterday dawn.

Juanito Perocho, 57, was declared dead on arrival when he was rushed to the nearest hospital while his wife, Jean Fernandez, 49, was critically wounded.

The suspect, Martin Fernandez, 26, was arrested during a hot pursuit operation.

Patrolman Ariel Balde of the Talisay City Police Station said the mother told the suspect not to go out in their house but the latter insisted which caused their altercation.

The suspect, who was armed with a kitchen knife, stabbed his mother several times.

Perocho, who noticed the incident, intervened but he was also stabbed by the suspect.

Balde said the suspect’s sisters shouted and asked for help.

Fernandez ran towards the bushes and hid.

Balde, during the investigation, revealed that the suspect usually goes berserk when his parents scold him.

Meanwhile, a man was discovered dead at Sitio Campo 5, Barangay Manipis, Talisay City yesterday morning.

Talisay City Police Station Chief Gerard Ace Pelare said motorists informed them that there was a man lying on the road.

Emergency Response Team immediately proceeded to the area and saw the man bathed with his own blood.

The victim was identified as Terencio Cabahug, of legal age, temporarily residing in Barangay Tabunok and a native of San Fernando, Cebu.

Pelare said a resident who happened to pass by the crime scene saw two men having an altercation.

She then heard a gun burst, which prompted her to run away.

The victim was killed covering his face with his clothes and wearing yellow pants.

Pelare said the victim is allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade.

He said it could be the motive of the killing of the victim.

Last Wednesday, unidentified man was shot to death not far from where Cabahug’s body was found.

He said that Manipis will be one of the places they would monitor. —
