At least 69 Cebu City Hall employees tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), four of them died, including councilor Antonio Cuenco.

Cebu City Legal Officer Rey Gealon said all afflicted were frontline workers ---12 from the Cebu City Health Department; 36 barangay health workers; 19 from the ambulance services; and one from the Department of Public Services.

Gealon said the fatalities, aside from Cuenco, include a sanitary inspector, DPS worker, and BHW.He also confirmed that former city treasurer Arlene Rentuza passed away Monday but her cause of death is still being investigated.

"Atong masabtan nga ang atong mga kauban nga kasagaran naigo mao ang naa sa frontlines. Mao ang kadtong nagpahigayon og swab testing, kadtong nagpahigayon og rapid testing, kadtong nagpahigayon og contact tracing," said Gealon.

"Di man natong mapugngan silang tanan nga di mopahigayon niini gumikan kay mao man kini ang atong gipanumpaan nga pangalagad sa atong pinalanggang dakbayan sa Sugbo," he added.

Gealon assured that precautionary measures are continuously being done at the City Hall. These include the implementation of alternative work arrangements like work from home and skeletal force, disinfection of offices, and provision of disinfectants in comfort rooms as well as every corner of the buildings and offices inside the City Hall.

"Gani sa sayo pa, wa na nato tugti ang atong mga kauban nga senior citizens nga motunga diha sa ilang tagsa tagsa ka mga buhatan lakip na ang katong dunay prevailing illness ug comorbidities," Gealon said.
