IM Dimakiling tops Stay at Home Chess Challenge-Bounty edition

Internatio­nal Master Oliver Dimakiling prevailed in a field of 159 players to rule the fourth installmen­t of the Stay at Home Chess Challenge billed as ‘Bounty edition’ played last Saturday, July 4, over lichess.org.

The Bohol-native Dimakiling emerged as the runaway winner with 60 points to pocket the P3,000 top prize.

Lemuel Montero was a distant second with 41 points while National Master Rommel Ganzon, Ariel Abellana and Michael Joseph Pagaran occupied the third to fifth spots with 40 points each.

Eden Diano and Brylle Arellano were at sixth and seventh with 34 points apiece, Jimmy Ty placed eight with 33 points while Rosendon Yamyamin and Redentor Nailon rounded up the top 10 with 32 points.

Making it to the top 20 were Juanico Segismar, Dennis Navales, Christian Yves Fiel, Spencer de Guzman, Rhenzi Kyle Sevillano, Jethro Esplanada, Remegio Galenzoga, Camelo Pamandanan, Louie Canieso, and Jasper Montejo.

The top five performers among female participan­ts were Cristy Cabungcag, Jenny Rose Palomo, Sheila Khan Sepanton, Alphecca Gonzales, and April Antido

The top four kiddies were Dave Lavandero, Jerish Velarde, Edelyn Vosotros, and Kristine Lavandero while the top three seniors were Roberto Inocian, Lincoln Yap, and Jesus Bitoon.

The two-hour tournament organized by IM Kim Steven Yap of the Cebu School of Chess was made possible through the support of Sunshine Almonds owned by Ralph Palmeri.
