Public elementary and high schools in Mandaue City and Consolacion, Cebu received over 800 reams of bond papers the teachers need in preparing their modules under the new normal of education.

“Nagkuwang gyud ron ang supplies para sa mga teachers kay bag-o man ning pamaagi ang pagtudlo karon, daghan kaayo silang gipanghimo nga mga modules,” said Cebu Sixth Districy Representative Emmarie “Lolypop” OuanoDizon, who is a member of the committee on basic education at the House of Representatives.

The opening of classes will push through by August 24 under the new normal way of education, which is either through online learning or modular system for students without access to the internet.

Ouano-Dizon, who has been an advocate for better access to education since she first served as councilor of Mandaue City few years ago, said she visited the town of Consolacion the other day to deliver 300 reams of bond papers at the Consolacion National High School.

She also distributed 500 reams of bond papers for the public elementary and high schools in Mandaue City on the same day.

Ouano-Dizon, together with her brother, Cebu Sixth District Board Member Thadeo Jovito “Jonkie” Ouano, as well as Consolacion councilor Alfie Ouano and cousin Mandaue city councilor Anjong O. Icalina, are using personal funds through the “Ouano Care” initiative.

Such initiative recognized that blended learning education, especially modular method, was not anticipated when the 2020 General Appropriations Act (GAA) was deliberated last year.

“Dili man ang mga teachers ra ang maka-benefit ani, hasta pud ang mga parents and students aron dili na sila mag-contribute or mogasto for the learning materials. Ang pagtuon na lang gyud sa mga bata ang tutukan,” said Ouano-Dizon, in a press statement.

Education has always been a priority for OuanoDizon, who had scholars using her personal funds when she was still a councilor under her program, “Edukasyon Mo, Pangandoy Ko.”

Like her father, former Mandaue City Mayor and Provincial Board Member

Thadeo “Teddy” Ouano who initiated the creation of the Mandaue City College, Ouano-Dizon has a soft spot of supporting education for the less fortunate members of the community.

Now on her first term in Congress, she also has a scholarship program for the entire district.
