MyBus goes full cashless next month
Starting next month, MyBus Card will be the sole payment mode for MyBus fares. This is in compliance with the guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Diseases (IATF).
From the usual cashless mixed with cash transactions, MyBus will go full cashless next month. The transition will be done by phases. Effective October 1, 2020, Route 1 (SM City Cebu-Parkmall to SM Seaside City-Maritima) will no longer be accepting cash as bus fare.
Other routes will likewise fully shift to MyBus Card payments on October 19 for Route 2 (Talisay to SM Seaside City), and October 26 for Route 3 (Talisay to Parkmall).
As compared to paying cash for bus fare, MyBus Card is easier (simply tap to pay and take a seat), safer (no need to bring loads of cash), and saves passengers from the hassle of enduring long queues at the ticket booth.
In preparation, MyBus stations are currently selling MyBus Cards and implementing a contactless reload procedure for MyBus cardholders.
MyBus cards can be reloaded at Customer Service (inside The SM Store) and Mall Information Booth in SM City Cebu and SM Seaside City.
MyBus Cards are now sold for only P120 (with P50 load) at MyBus stations in SM City Cebu (North Wing Open Parking 2), SM Seaside City (Mountain Wing Entrance), and Talisay City (MyBus Depot).
Aside from paying for MyBus fare, MyBus Card can be also used to pay cashless at The SM Store and SM Supermarket in SM City Cebu, SM Hypermarket (Mandaue City), and in select SM Savemore Market branches.
