Nurses hope promised P10T aid materializes
Nurses working in private hospitals here are hoping that the incentives promised to them will be released as announced by Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella.
La bella, in a press conference, said the release of the incentive took a long time as the beneficiaries were still subjected to evaluation through the Ram on Aboitiz Foundation Inc. ( RAFI).
Philippine Nurses' Association- Cebu chapter president Dr. Joseph Stephen Descallar told The FREEMAN t hat he had been asked by their members over and over again regarding t he promised P10,000 monthly incentive.
This time around, Descallar said they are hoping that Labella will finally fulfill the promise as they “have heard him saying it over and again.”
Since this is the first time that Ce bu City will be doing it, Labella explained there are also documentary requirements that need to be complied with pursuant to the guidelines of the Commission on Audit.
Aside from private nurses who have much lower salaries than those in government hospitals, doctors, nursing attendants, and medical technologies who are in the frontlines of the battle against Covid- 19 were also reported to be eligible for the incentive.
Labella said this time around, the payroll has now been prepared for the month of August.
“Ato ng mahatag siguro og dili karong semanaha, sunod semana. Definitely, una mahuman ang Setyembre, mahatag natog una ang tag tig P10 thousands a bu wans a Agosto. And so on so forth. Sunod, dali na lang,” said Labella.
Des call ar said though that there is still confusion whether t he medical frontliners will still get their incentives for May to July, when the coronavirus pandemic was at its peak.
Descallar said there may be nurses who have even tendered their resignation already and could no longer enjoy such incentive. He hopes the release will not be delayed further. — Caecent No- ot Magsumbol/JMD
