Cebu City’s COVID-19 cases near 10T mark

Confirmed coronaviru­s disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Cebu City continue to rise, with the total number now close to the 10,000 mark.

According to the latest figures released by the Department of Health in Central Visayas Friday night, the city has reported 9,963 confirmed cases following nine new cases.

Of the total cases, 391 cases are active.

The death toll is now 672 with two new fatalities.

The number of recovery cases, on the other hand, stands at 8,900 after 11 were already discharged.

Moreover, three cities in Metro Cebu also reported new coronaviru­s cases.

Lapu- Lapu City has reported two new cases.

The additional cases bring the city’s total cases to 2,341, which is broken down into 245 active cases, 2,003 recoveries, and 93 deaths.

In Mandaue City, nine new cases were added to its list.

The city now has 2,424 total cases, of which 209 are active.

It also reported 22 additional recoveries and two deaths, bringing the total numbers to 2,074 and 140, respective­ly.

In Talisay City, five new COVID-19 cases were logged. This brings to 953 total cases.

The patients are from Barangays Dumlog and Maghaway. Their positive test results came in on September 24.

Of the 954 cases, 38 are active cases. The rest were recoveries (821) and fatalities (95).

According to the health department, Central Visayas has logged a total of 20,175 cases—1,633 active cases, 17,823 recoveries and 1,259 deaths. — Decemay P. Padilla and Gabriel C. Bonjoc/KQD
