Daily national prayer for 2022 election

-

Our candidates may be different, and the ways of supporting them just as diverse. Still, is it possible for us to unite as a nation, in prayer, for a minute a day?

Remember the 3’o clock Divine Mercy Prayer that still continues until now? Through multi-media dissemination, Filipinos all throughout the country are reminded to pause/ stop and recite the Divine Mercy Prayer daily.

During this crucial time for our country’s history, is it possible to have perhaps a 6 p.m. prayer for 2022 elections, after the daily Angelus?

To remind everyone about this 6 p.m. prayer time, why not have all the church bells toll and ring loud as well?

Calling all churches and believers, can we start this daily prayer soonest?

Last article, we shared the Kapamilya 2022 Election Prayer.

Here is another, provided by the Commission on Human Rights, which begins with a call for forgiveness from God for “indifference to the plight of our fellow Filipinos and the future of our country which caused our hopelessness.”

The prayer proceeds to ask God to guide Filipino voters through their various steps and responsibilities for the 2022 elections. Particularly, the prayer is a reminder for all voters to carefully select their candidates, especially from among those who truly serve God and the people.

The prayer also reminds all voters to avoid lies, any temptation to sell their votes and engaging in negative, destructive campaigns.

The prayer asks the Lord to guide Comelec to ensure clean, honest, peaceful and orderly elections and courage for Comelec to “curb all forms of electoral fraud, especially ballot swapping and cyber scams.”

Aside from the voters and the election officials, the prayer also asks the Lord to take care of all those who contribute their time, attention and even risk their lives during the elections; the teachers, the police, the military, and the poll watchers.

The prayer ends with the supplication for the Almighty Lord to guide the Philippines to be a blessing for Asia and the whole world.

Here is the full text of the CHR PasaLord Prayer for the 2022 Election:

“Almighty God, once again, we come to You with gratitude for Your wonderful plan for our country, the PhilSomething ippines. Please forgive us for indifference to the plight of our fellow Filipinos and the future of our country which caused our hopelessness.

“In the upcoming elections, please open our hearts and minds to the sanctity of the ballot, and the duties we must perform, such as registration, voting and electing leaders according to Your will.

“Please open our eyes so that we may discern the candidates who are worthy of serving the nation and who have qualities such as: reverential fear of God, competence for the post they want to serve in integrity, firm principles, no greed for money or power, and courage to fight for the good of all.

“Give us the strength, Lord, to reject vote buying and the money stapled with sampled ballots. Save us from all lies, false promises, character assassination, and destructive campaigns, as well as intimidation, electoral violence, and violation of human rights.

“Bless and guide the Comelec’s resolve to have clean, honest, peaceful, orderly elections. Give them the courage to curb all forms of electoral fraud, especially ballot swapping and cyber scams. Protect and guide the voters and the election officials – particularly the teachers, the police, the military, and the poll watchers.

“Lord, full of hope in Your Mighty Hand, we ask for all these so that the Philippines may become a blessing to Asia and the whole world.

In Your most-high Name, Amen.”

United, every 6 p.m., can we all pause/pray for God to bless the 2022 election and our nation?
