The DepEd’s tagged vision and mission vs. tag questions

-

The department of education has this year’s annual budget amounting to ₱788.5 billion which is ₱36.8 billion higher, or a 4.9% increase compared to last year’s budget. Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones said that she would like to express her gratitude to (former) President Duterte and Congress for the never-ending support to raise the quality of education in the country. Thus, the increase in budget will certainly help our reforms and initiatives to transform education amidst the pandemic.

We have not seen these highest numbers before, have we? But this will lead us to be hopeful once again They could hear the teachers cry, couldn’t they? We believe and are optimistic about teachers' salary increases, don’t we?

Here it is, now the teachers have the thickest chance of realizing such a dream just as the department has its vision which is we dream of Filipinos who passionately love their country and whose values and competencies enable them to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to building the nation.

As a learner-centered public institution, the Department of Education continuously improves itself to better serve its stakeholders.

The last paragraph talks it all, DepEd has to continuously improve itself to better serve its stakeholder. It's a divine responsibility of the department to be more capable of transforming lives into better ones. While the first paragraph leaves us with compassion and a sense of dedication that may transpire a fire in the heart that surely sparks the eagerness to serve this country.

We are not the most advanced when it comes to the education system, are we? Particularly in the teaching and learning processes. You can’t expect a sick teacher, or a mother, a father, a brother, or a sister to be at his or her best when problems at home have shaken their strengths and weakened their core, can you?

When there is somebody in the family with certain uncertainties, can a teacher still be the strongest? I bet not.

The DepEd Mission assures to protect and promote the right of every Filipino to quality, equitable, culturebased, and complete basic education where students learn in a child-friendly, gender-sensitive, safe, and motivating environment. Students or pupils have to be in the most conducive to learning, don’t they?

Teachers facilitate learning and constantly nurture every learner. For once a young mind needs nurture by a mentally-healthy teacher.

We can see struggling and troubled teachers so how can they be able to constantly nurture every learner if these teachers are stressed by both known and unknown stressors?

Administrators and staff, as stewards of the institution, ensure an enabling and supportive environment for effective learning to happen. It is the collaboration among stakeholders both external and internal to support pupils' metamorphosis of growth learning and experience, isn’t it?

Family, community and other stakeholders are actively engaged and share responsibility for developing lifelong learners. Generally, a vision and mission to pursue.
