S.I.V, Aiperon suffer first loss in Arlon Cup

There’s no more undefeated team in Hoop Nation’s Arlon Cup Season 1.

This after S.I.V andAiperon Internatio­nal Fighters fell prey to their respective rivals over the weekend at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

S.I.V lost to DMY Events, 66-69, while Aiperon bowed to Gonzalodo Enterprise­s, 55-61.

Jeff Michael Gudes sizzled with 28 points laced with six rebounds and seven assists for DMY Events, which jumped on top of the West Division standings with an 8-1 win-loss record.

JP Yu had 16 points but to no avail as S.I.V saw its seven-game win streak come to a screeching halt.

Hope Gideon churned out 18 points, six rebounds and two steals as Gonzalodo joined the Prayboys at fourth in the West with identical 6-3 cards.

Amir Batiancila posted 14 points and three steals but his efforts went for naught as Aiperon’s six-game winning roll has ended.

Not to be outdone, Jonas Mejos collected 19 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks as Team Kobe downed the Cougars, 59-53, to keep the solo lead in the East with a 9-1 slate.

In the league’s first double thriller, the Cebuanos escaped past Pfizer, 60-59, while 5 Joints pulled off a 43-42 squeaker over AEG.

Bennick Selana exploded for 30 points on top of five rebounds and five assists as the Cebuanos evened their record to 5-5 while Mario Abinoman cashed in 14 points, three rebounds and three assists to power 5 Joints to its fourth victory against the same number of losses.

The Trojan Warriors, meanwhile, overcame the Punisher, 61-57.

John Paul Banono scattered 22 points, eight steals and three assists for the Trojan Warriors, who triumphed for the seventh time in 11 games. —
