Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia wants the soon to rise Cebu Provincial Government Center in Balamban town will have the same design as the existing Provincial Capitol Building.

“We have the original plans ani… they still have sa engineering. Ato ning i-replicate,” Garcia told reporters in a press conference this week.

Currently, the Capitol is negotiating the land price in the site where the said edifice will erect. The governor did not specify the location in Balamban.

The Capitol plans to purchase the 16-hectare lot in the area owned by private individuals. The initial land price was at P150 per square meter but the governor asked to lower the price to half or P75 per square meter.

“Naay mga 16 hectares nga gi-offer at a certain price and I said hangyoa pa na kung pwde katunga unya pun-i pa na og pila ka ektarya kay if makapalit na ta'g inisyal ana mo zoom up gyud mga presyo,” Garcia said.

“Paliton nato kanang 16 hectares bisan pa’g itugot na nila’g 75, I’m sure ang uban diha mosaka na og 155 (per square meter) mahal na. Naay mga tag-iya gipang consolidate but all titled di man ta mopalit og dili titled,” Garcia furthered.

The governor planned for the government complex needing a wide area so that national government offices can also, through their regional offices, relocate there. The governor also plans to construct housing for the Capitol employees.

The Capitol has already set aside P500 million for the site development. According to the governor, Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go put a P200 million fund on the General Appropriations Act (GAA) this year for the said project. —
