Garcia wants Loreche to help manage district hospitals
Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia is planning to tap the chief pathologist of the Department of Health in Central Visayas, Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, for the operation of the provincial and district hospitals.
The governor wants to form a team that would help oversee the administrative aspect of the 16 province-run hospitals for better services.
“Hopefully Doctor Loreche will be heading the team. Probably, I might ask her to come in as hospital administrator, the provincial and district hospital administrator,” Garcia said.
Running a hospital needs efficient management and with the Capitol’s goal to give better healthcare services, there should be people that can focus to achieve such a goal.
“Focus on the administration aspect of running these hospitals. It’s no joke really, from as I’ve said ang procurement daan taas na gud na nga process. So to see to it nga this is also run efficiently nga walay waste of resources, kana laging culture of excellence sa atong mga medical workers nga kana bang ayuhon og tratar hilabina ang mga pobre nga mosulod, they deserve really good service and courtesy and tanan,” the governor furthered.
Loreche is currently the Capitol’s consultant on health affairs for one peso a year. Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama also tapped Loreche to help the city in the operations of the Cebu City Medical Center.
“She (Loreche) informed me nga wala siya nidayon sa CCMC,” Garcia told reporters.
Loreche said she will wait for the governor for the meeting to discuss the matter. The pathologist said she is also willing to assist the province.
The governor said she wants the operation of the hospitals to be efficient and to be upgraded considering each of the facilities are unique and have different bed capacity like the Minglanilla District Hospital which has 50bed capacity, others are 10-bed and the provincial hospitals can accommodate up to 100.
“…ang occupancy lain lain og ang personnel gyud. It’s a 10bed mao rani allowed na number. Ang personnel diha mao rani ka doctors, that’s also the public doesn’t understand. So I know that feeling nga wala na kay madaganan nya mao ranang ospitala so we will try very best gyud to updgrade our services nga i-upgrade ang services,” Garcia said. —
