Comelec receives 40T voter applications
The number of applications processed by the local Comelec offices in Cebu during the first week of the voter’s registration period has reached over 40,000.
Data from the Comelec Cebu Province showed that from July 4 to July 9, 2022, the number of registrants has reached 41,421, of which 19,843 are males and 21,578 females.
Fifth congressional district of Cebu Province recorded that highest number of applications which reached 6,939; followed by the first district, 5,592; and the fourth with 5,425 applications.
In the same data, second congressional district showed 1,923 applications were processed; third district, 4,485; sixth district, 4,236; and seventh district, 3,284.
The Lapu-Lapu lone district recorded 1,975 registrants for the first week of registration while Cebu City has reached to 7,562 wherein 3,277 came from the first district and 4,285 from the second district.
The registration period for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan election will last until July 23 this year.
The upcoming local election is set on December 5, 2022.
For the Sangguniang Kabataan elections, the voter must be at least 15 years old by December 5, 2022, but not over 30 years old; a resident of the Philippines for at least a year and must be a resident of the barangay where he/she plans to vote for at least 6 months before the 2022 barangay and SK election."
The poll body also accepts other applications aside from the registration like the transfer of registration records; change/correction of entries in registration records; inclusion and reinstatement in the voter's list and transfer of registration records from overseas post to local. —
