SSS goes after contribution evaders
The Social Security System (SSS) recently staged another Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) operation in Cebu Province targeting erring employers who reportedly remained to be obstinate with their obligations despite receiving demand letters.
Seven employers in the municipalities of Consolacion and Liloan received written notices from SSS Lapu-Lapu Branch for failure to register their business and remit their employees’ contributions.
These violations of the Social Security Act of 2018 or RA 11199 resulted to a total delinquency of P1.13 million affecting 66 employees.
“The objective of RACE is to inform all employers that SSS is closely monitoring their compliance with the law and that we have a relief program to aid them in settling their obligations, SSS VicePresident of Visayas Central 1 Division Atty. Alberto Montalbo said in a statement.
Montalbo said that SSS is also reminding employee-members to regularly check their records via their My.SSS account and report to them any inconsistencies in their contributions.
SSS said that they are currently offering the PRRP 3 or the Enhanced Installment Payment Program to delinquent employers who are incapable of paying their delinquencies in full or have no other means to immediately settle their total obligation.
Under this program, employers may pay their past-due contributions through installment terms ranging from nine to 60 months, depending on the total amount of delinquency.
Regular or household employers who are qualified for this program are those with unpaid SS and/or EC contributions, for at least six applicable months, including penalties; unpaid penalties only on paid and/or late payment of contributions, pending applications for installment payment under SSS Circular Nos. 2011-002, and 2018-008; pending applications for Dacion en Pago; pending civil/criminal cases/ judgment/ final judgment/ resolution/ conviction; issued Preliminary Assessment Notice (PAN)/ Final Assessment Notice before Seizure (FANS); and denied application or disqualified under PRRP 2.
Employers are advised to submit their application to their servicing SSS Branch Office until November 22, 2022.
Following the orders of SSS President and CEO Michael G. Regino, nationwide RACE operations will continue under the new administration.
Regino had said that SSS shall ensure that members will receive the full benefit in times of contingencies.
“For this to happen, we are urging all delinquent employers to avail of the installment program so that they can return to their good SSS standing and provide adequate social security protection to their workers at the same time,” Regino added.
