Garcia said she has asked the budget office to look for available funds for the purpose.

"Yes we would wish to give them a certain amount unexpected, unbudgeted so that they can spend this with their family," Garcia said.

The governor is expected to make the announcement today during the anniversary program at the Capitol Social Hall. Each Capitol employee will also receive five kilos of rice aside from the raffle items.

CHALLENGE TO DEPARTMENT HEADS

Meanwhile, Garcia has challenged all the department heads to do better, especially the provincial treasurer to improve the tax collection efficiency even more.

Recently, the Province of Cebu has topped among the 81 provinces of the country in collection efficiency of locally sourced revenues for fiscal year 2021.

This is based on the list released by the Bureau of Local Government Finance naming the Top Performing Provinces, Cities and Municipalities in Local Revenue Generation.

According to BLGF, from the P585.66 million target collection of Cebu Province in 2020, it collected P834.92 million locally sourced revenue (LSR) or has 142.6% collection efficiency in 2021.

Under the Year-on-Year growth in locally sourced revenues in fiscal year 2020-2021, Cebu Province ranked third after collecting P634.97 million LSR in 2020 and P834.92 million in 2021 or 31.5% year-on-year growth.

Cebu Province also ranked 10th when it comes to highest locally sourced revenues among all the provinces in the country for the year 2021.

Garcia said that the province’s collection target this year should exceed from last year’s collection.

"They cannot go lower than the previous target. Mubo raman sad kaayo ang target, P500 million ra, de syempre pag-abot sa P800 million taas kaayo," Garcia said.

She wants to raise the target even higher to be at par with the more developed provinces.

"We'd like to be at par with more developed provinces. Mas daghan man gud tang rural diri sa ato as compared to mas urbanized nga provinces like Pampanga. So we'd like to catch up," Garcia said. —
