Pangilinan made the commitment during a meeting with Rama and other city officials at the PLDT corporate headquarters in Makati City yesterday.

Rama was accompanied by City Planning and Development Office head Archt. Joseph Michael “Yumi” Espina, SRP manager Roberto “Bu” Varquez, Atty. Collin Russel and Public Information Office head Cerwin Eviota.

The meeting was part of Rama’s “investment blitzkrieg” initiative to invite investors to invest in the city. It is also part of achieving his goal for the city to become “Singapore-like.”

According to a PIO report, the amount committed by Pangilinan will cover the construction cost of one floor of CCMC.

“Mayor Mike Rama’s wish to complete CCMC soon inches closer as business tycoon Manny V. Pangilinan commits to fund for P100 million (with naming rights) one whole floor of the “Poor Man’s Hospital with Rich Man’s Services, Love, Care, Compassion Assured,” read part of the PIO’s post.

Prior to the May elections, Rama had already announced Pangilinan’s commitment to help complete the CCMC.

At the early phase of re-building the CCMC after being damaged by the 2013 earthquake, Pangilian through the Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) had also handed over P5 million to Rama for the city hospital.

The amount given earlier was added to the “Piso Mo, Hospital Ko” fund campaign for CCMC.

Rama, however, failed to complete the construction of CCMC then after losing to former mayor Tomas Osmena in 2016 elections. After Osmena, the late mayor Edgardo Labella also promised to complete the structure but missed his target.

Now that he is back as the duly elected mayor of the city, Rama said he doesn’t want any more delay in the completion of the hospital. The mayor said he wants the entire 10 floors-- as designed-- to be completed in October of this year.

Rama is also pushing it to be a specialty hospital outside Manila as what President Bongbong Marcos wants to have in different regions. —
