CV logs over 90,000 poorest of the poor
Over 90,000 poorest of the poor in Central Visayas are potential beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
This came after many of the previous beneficiaries have either graduated, waived, no longer qualified, or violated certain provisions of the program.
“Naay mga beneficiaries na ni exit na sa program, graduate or tungod kay wala na silay bata nga 0-18, maayo na ang kundisyon sa ilang kinabuhi, sufficient well-being, waived wala na nangihanglan, and ang uban naay violations… So nakuhaan na sila and needs replacement,” said Regional Director Shalaine Marie Lucero of the Department of Social Welfare and Development-7 .
Currently, there are 288,000 beneficiaries of 4Ps in the region, with 270,000 of them as active while others are closely monitored for interventions.
Lucero clarified that the potential beneficiaries are based on DSWD’s Listahan 3. The list, she said, is based on a scientific method to determine the poorest of the poor and not from the influence of any politician.
The Cebu island has over 40,000 potential new beneficiaries, followed by Negros Oriental with 30,000, Bohol with 20,000, and Siquijor with less than a thousand.
Lucero said there are more slots in Cebu and Negros Oriental as there are also the first ones to avail of the program, thus, many of them have also graduated from the program already.
Potential beneficiaries are now undergoing orientation to ensure that parents also know their obligations in return for the government’s help to them. —
