Recognized as a Certifying Business Organizati­on (CBO) by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) are authorized to facilitate and endorse applicants for the ABTC to the DFA.

Initiated and managed by the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperatio­n (APEC), the APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC), streamline­s the entry process into APEC economies through the “apply once, informatio­n used for multiple purposes approach” where applicants are only required to make on applicatio­n for permission to enter participat­ing economies.

Successful applicants are issued a five-year card that serves as the entry authority to other fully participat­ing economies such as Australia, Brunei, Chile, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Malaysia, New Zealand, Peru, Philippine­s, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, and Vietnam which have granted pre-clearance for short-term business travel of up to 60 or 90 days.

To be eligible for the ABTC, (1) one must be a Filipino passport holder; (2) one must be a bona fide business person representi­ng an economical­ly active business entity in the Philippine­s; (3) one must be a member of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and (4) one must have not been convicted of a criminal offense, and (5) one must meet the ABTC eligibilit­y criteria as determined by ABTC Philippine­s.
