Cebuanas urged to join women’s month events

-

The Cebu City Government, through its Women and Family Affairs Commission, has urged for the Cebuanas’ full participation in the different activities during the women’s month, so their “little voice” will be heard.

A series of events has been lined up for the Cebuanas in celebration of the women’s month, aside from that of International Women’s Day on March 8.

The City of Cebu officially started its celebration with a parade of representatives from 80 barangays of the city yesterday.

Another parade will also take place on the 27th, which will focus on women with disabilities.

Symposia and seminars are also lined up for them in the days to come, according to the city’s PIO.

Ginang Gabay, on the other hand, takes place on the 25th.

On the 28th of the month will be the Violence against Women and Children’s Congress in a still undisclosed venue.

Different government agencies are supporting the upcoming congress.

With this, the city’s women and family commission’s head Jojo Lingaolingao hopes for the full participation of Cebuanas here in the different events.

“We, here in the city government through the Women and Family Affairs Commission, will continue to empower women,” Lingaolingao said.

Lingaolingao also urged everyone to stand up for their rights.

“Hinaot pa unta nga kitang mga kababayen-an dili nato i-allow nga kita gamiton sa bisan unsa nga pamaagi kita mobarog. Let us all stand for our rights and (let our) little voices be heard. Dako kaayo’g ikatabang ang mga kababayen-an,” said Lingaolingao.
