Rama off to LCP’s “knowledge sharing event”
Fresh from a family vacation abroad, Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama is off to another travel, this time an official one, to attend a “knowledge sharing event” by the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) where he is the national president.
The event, which the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has approved, will be held in Taguig City starting today until Friday.
Since Rama is travelling on “official business” traveling expenses and registration fee, if any, to defray the cost of hotel accommodation, meals, and activity materials is authorized to be charged against local government funds, in accordance with and subject to applicable limitations prescribed by the Commission on Audit.
The event aims to highlight the essential roles of cities in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) anchored on “Philippines AmBisyon Natin 2040" where Filipinos enjoy a strongly rooted, comfortable, and secure life by harnessing economic growth and development.
According to DILG, it is also expected to be a venue for participants to learn available tools; determine necessary innovations and share good practices that could facilitate the attainment of sustainable development goals.
The DILG is also set to discuss the Single-ticketing system with the 33 highly-urbanized cities, including the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, and Lapu-Lapu, along with the Development Authority and the Land Transportation Office.
Cebu City hosted the LCP gathering last year which tackled strengthening public-private partnerships for cities' continued development and making them “smart cities”.
Rama believes that sharing best practices among LGUs is a unified approach to making the country more progressive.
