Two kilos of shabu seized in Lapu-Lapu
More than two kilos of shabu worth P14.2 million were seized yesterday by the personnel of the City
Intelligence Unit and the City Drug Enforcement Unit of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) Thursday morning at Purok Shooting Star, Barangay Babag, LapuLapu City.
Police Captain Noah
Añana led the operation and identified the suspect as Chabelita “Badi” Bantilan, 23, who is considered a high-value individual and a resident of Quiot, Pardo, Cebu City.
Police Colonel Elmer Lim, LCPO city director, said that the suspect is considered the “bodegera” or “kabayo” among some prisoners detained at the National Bilibid Prison.
He, however, refused to name those detainees, as they are still investigating the incident.
Bantilan, for his part, said that someone called and asked him to pick up an item in Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City, and to deliver it to LapuLapu City, in exchange of P5,000.
Mayor Ahong Chan said he will give incentives to the police department for the successful operation against illegal drugs.
Chan added that LapuLapu City now has one “drug free” barangay (Cawhagan) and six other communities that have been tagged as “drug cleared.”
During the operation, the authorities seized 21 packs of suspected shabu weighing 100 grams each that were placed inside a red backpack, a cellular phone, buy-bust money, and the motorcycle that was reportedly used by the suspect.
The suspect has been booked into the detention facility at the LapuLapu City Police Office pending the filing of the charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002. —
