Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama and Vice Mayor Alvin Raymond Garcia expressed gratitude to everyone behind the "successful" Sinulog 2024 festivities.

In his message yesterday during the awarding ceremony of winners a day after the grand parade and ritual showdown at the South Road Properties, Rama lifted all the credit to the Sr. Sto Niño.

Rama then expressed his gratitude to various sectors--the Sinulog Foundation, law enforcement agencies, the contingents, the working staff, and the public, who did their part no matter the challenges along the way.

According to Rama, if not for the effort of all, the Sinulog celebration will not be possible.

"Thank you from the bottom of my heart," said Rama.

Rama extended his gratitude to the working sectors especially those from the Cebu City government, announcing that those who have been working for the event will be receiving one sack of rice.

"Those who have been working very very hard cleaning, making Cebu (clean) from the time we started preparing last Thursday until this morning, we will be giving one sack of rice," Rama announced.

He further said that if funds will not be available to provide the sacks of rice, he assured that he will find ways to make it available.

For his part, Garcia was thankful during the flag raising ceremony at the Cebu City Hall.

"At this point I would like to thank all the men and women who really put a lot of time and effort and hard work, sweat, blood and tears to make our activities very successful," said Garcia.

Garcia then thanked Mayor Rama, whom he identified as the one who led in the preparation, as well as the staging and the hosting of the Sinulog activities.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Sinulog Foundation Inc (SFI) and the Department of Public Services who had the "gargantuan task" of making sure that the streets around the city are clean.

Likewise, Garcia also noted the hard work of the traffic enforcers for accordingly keeping "sanity in the streets" as well as the Public Information Office (PIO).

"And many more, if I fail to mention you, that doesn't mean we don't acknowledge your efforts in making sure that the sinulog will be successful and will continue to go on without any glitch," said Garcia.

Meanwhile, Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) officials also expressed gratitude to those who collaborated with them to ensure a peaceful and successful Sinulog 2024 celebration.

“Dako gyud kaayo natong pasalamat sa tanang nga niapil niini atoang pag-secure sa atoang 459th Fiesta Senyor and the Sinulog Philippines 2024,” said Police Lieutenant Colonel Janette Rafter, Deputy Director for Operations of the CCPO.

Apart from their own personnel, Rafter also expressed the CCPO's gratitude to the Police Regional Office 7 (PRO-7) through regional director, Police Brigadier General Anthony Aberin, for the necessary logistics and personnel deployment, as well as to City Mayor Michael Rama and the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño.

The CCPO also disclosed that no crimes were recorded crimes along the Sinulog routes and procession routes since the commencement of Sinulog activities on January 10 with Walk with Jesus until the very end of the celebration.

The police estimated the crowd at the South Road Properties on Sunday at 3 million.

Meanwhile, Aberin commended all police personnel and augmented forces who were deployed for the Sinulog.

On Sunday, thousands of security personnel from the Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), among other agencies, were deployed around the city for the Sinulog celebration.
