LTO-7 regional director Glen Galario said a significant number of vehicle plates are yet to be claimed by its owners and are left to gather dusts at their warehouse in Talisay City.

“We will intensify our Oplan Bigay Plaka this year as we are optimistic to see a significant decrease of our backlogs for the license plates,” said Galario.

LTO-7 launched its “Oplan Bigay Plaka” in September last year as the agency’s initiative to reduce to backlog of unclaimed license plates while also collecting vital data from motorists and vehicle owners through a random roadside inspection.

As per the data of LTO-7 from June 9, 2023 to January 19, 2024, a total of 91,835 motorcycle plates were released while 13,154 motor vehicle plates were also claimed by vehicle owners.

“Based on our latest data, we have distributed a total of 105,127 license plates in the last 7 months and we want to intensify our efforts in distributing these plates,” Galario added.

Galario said there are still thousands of plates in its storage facility that are yet to be released.

“We still have thousands of plates in our storage facility in Talisay City in Cebu and we want to intensify again the release of these license plates,” said Galario.

Galario calls on vehicle owners who are still carrying temporary plates to visit the nearest LTO office to claim their license plates.

“We want the public to know that we have plates available for them to collect,” Galario said.

To claim the license plates, one must bring a copy of their vehicle’s original receipt and certificate of registration to the nearest LTO office and present it to LTO’s Public Assistance Complaints Desk for processing.

To process the release of license plates in LTO offices, one should fill out the Plate Information Form through the PACD and submit their copy of OR and CR.

Vehicle owners will then need to wait for a text confirmation within the next 48 hours for the status of their license plates and/or when to claim them. --
