The Department of Social Welfare and Development7’s 2,000-strong workforce recently received tribute for their “dedication, commitment, passion, and service” through the Angels in Red Vests (ARV) campaign.

Launched during the 73rd Anniversary Celebration of DSWD, the campaign bears the theme “Angels in Red Vests: Naglilingkod ng may Extra Care at Extra Love”.

The honor is bestowed on the workers for their “hard work and dedication to serve the poor, marginalized, disadvantaged sectors of society”.

As the department implements programs and services and innovates new ones to address poverty, DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian saw the campaign as a platform that boosts the workers’ morale.

In his video message, Gatchalian said, “Without you, our Angels in Red Vests, we will not be able to realize our commitment to the country. That is why we want you to feel proud once you wear that red vest and go out in the field to deliver the programs and services of the Department to the Filipino people.”

Meanwhile, DSWD), through the National Authority for Child Care (NACC) said it joined the Sinulog Grand Parade last Jan. 21 to raise public awareness about legal adoption, foster care, and other forms of alternative child care.

It was NACC’s first-time to participate in the annual event with Undersecretary and NACC Executive Director Janella Ejercito Estrada.

“We are here to encourage more Cebuano families and all those who watch the Sinulog Grand Parade to open up their homes and provide love and care to abandoned, neglected, dependent, surrendered, orphaned, abused, and exploited children needing adoption and/or foster care,” she said of their Sinulog participation.

The NACC is a newly created attached quasi-judicial agency of the DSWD under Republic Act No. 11642 (Domestic Administrative Adoption and Alternative Child Care Act).

All government programs and services about adoption and alternative child care have been streamlined through the NACC to enable an expeditious and affordable legal adoption process and alternative child care. -
