Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama has directed all department heads to look after the city hall employees whose contracts were not renewed to ensure that they are given assistance.

After returning from a trip in Singapore last week, Rama personally thanked all the city hall employees, especially those who served in the Sinulog 2024, for their help.

The mayor has ordered the department heads to ensure that those who were not renewed of their employment contracts are still being taken care of.

“Ato silang tan-awon sad…dili nato biyaan… kamong 27 departments, I am directing each of the department to come up with your group to check all those that has been declared un-renewed and where they are,” said Rama.

The mayor assured that the former city employees and those that are now on a floating status will not be neglected.

“Ayaw mo kaguol… I’m a human resource practitioner and nobody should be left behind...I’m a Christian leader, naa ba diay Christian leader nga pasagdan lang ang katong wala ma renew? dili nato pasagdan, dili… dili ug dili pasagdan ni Mayor Mike Rama ang wa ma-renew,” Rama said.

He told the department heads to come up with a structure to properly monitor those affected by the right-sizing and those whose contracts will end today.

“Sa dili ma renew, dili sila biyaan…27 departments, naa moy kaugalingong structure dapat to look after them… where are they now? What have they’ve been doing? What learning they need? What endorsement they need?...So that they will continue to have body and soul, living within their family…mao na ang atong buhaton,” Rama said.

The mayor emphasized that this is the best time to show support for others.

“This is now the best time ...I’d like to be very much emphatic ---that we should show to our fellow Christian that we do not abandon and we will not abandon,” Rama said.
