Amidst unresolved issues, including the leadership row, the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) yesterday launched a new logo and slogan as part of its rebranding campaign.

From a mere lettering of the water district’s name, the new logo appears to be a droplet of water with hands catching it as unveiled in the press launch at MCWD’s Boardroom led by the embattled chairman, Atty. Joey Daluz and general manager Edgar Danoso.

Zooming in, its key elements include faucet in a home, flowing water, white flowing curvatures and hands catching the droplet.

The faucet at home accordingly, represents the direct impact of MCWD’s services in the households and communities.

It also serves as a call to “drink from the tap” while the faucet’s steady dream represents the water district’s commitment to deliver safe, reliable and highquality drinking water in Metro Cebu.

The white flowing curvatures, on the other hand, represents the waves and flow of rivers and seas which are MCWD’s primary source of water while the flowing water represents MCWD’s approach to service.

The water droplet symbolizes the essence of MCWD’s services while staying committed to environmental stewardship with its leaf-like design.

The hands itself accordingly means “water is life” while also standing as an “emblematic of the care and stewardship that MCWD extends towards its resources and responsibilities” while also symbolizing MCWD’s diverse stakeholders.

From blue and green, now

MCWD carries on three shades of blue and white as its corporate colors with the shades of blue signifying trust and reliability as white represents purity and clarity.

As part of its re-branding, it also carries a new slogan, “To serve you well.”

MCWD will also be adopting a shortened name of "Metro Cebu Water District" for marketing purposes.

The launching of the new logo and slogan is also in connection with MCWD’s 50th anniversary this coming November 20, 2024.

“In line with that, the board and the management decided to update the look of MCWD… We envision ourselves to be a forward-looking water district,” said Pia Barnido, assistant general manager for finance and head of the rebranding committee.

Barnido also stressed that in coming up with the new logo, there was “no cost” involved as it is in collaboration of ideas by the employees and officers themselves.
