CCCSP recovers official FB page

-

The official Facebook page of the Cebu City College Scholarship Program (CCCSP) has finally been recovered after almost two months from being hacked.

CCCSP’s Executive Director Judy Yap heaved a sigh of relief as they are now able to access their page, which has over 73,000 followers and 67 likes.

"Good news! We have finally recovered our Official Facebook Page! It has been a stirring topic in this community the recent ostentatious posts of this page 'caused by the hacking incident,” part of CCCSP’s post reads.

Yap thanked the assistance of chief Police Colonel Fidel Fortaleza Jr, and OIC Digital Forensic PLT Mark Anthony Fredeluces of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit (RACU) – 7 in the recovery of the said page.

Yap said the page administrator also sent an affidavit to Meta Philippines in order to assist them in regaining back ownership of the page.

Based on the screenshot of the page management’s history, it was allegedly hacked by a foreign national.

The official CCCSP page, which has the Official Seal of the City of Cebu on its profile, was hacked last December 11, 2023.

Although the page appeared to be inactive since it was hacked, the account has been used to post obscene photos on its stories that are linked to a porn site.

While working on the recovery of the page, CCCSP used an alternative account to which Yap said will be deactivated once they will be able to transfer the important materials posted to its original page.

“We will simultaneously post updates in both pages for now but will slowly leave the alternate page to focus in this main page. Thank you for the patience and understanding,” added CCCSP in their statement.

Last year, the Facebook page of the town of Consolacion was also reportedly hacked, while four days ago, the official PIO page of Paranaque was also reportedly hacked. - Caecent No-ot Magsumbol/ATO
