Life is about gratitude

In life, we would find people we know can help us or be a useful tool to solve our difficulti­es. We just had an issue with our house since part of it would be used for a national transmissi­on line project. And when the government would require what is meant to be private property for the benefit of all, let's just look into, if only for a destructio­n that calls for dialogue. And in order to accomplish this, we need assistance with the technical and even legal aspects of it.

As a result of my concerns I visited a former student who currently holds a particular position in the government. And she is willing to help using any way available when I contacted her. She also mentioned during our talk how she can never forget the events and memories she had in the 1990s when I was her high school teacher.

When things are going well, it's simple to be thankful, but when something bad happens, it's worthwhile to be thankful. Experienci­ng gratitude enables us to recognize and appreciate the positive aspects of life. But what happens if things go wrong in life? Amidst the economic turbulence engulfing our nation, I am frequently asked if it is possible for someone to feel thankful in such dreadful

circumstan­ces, or even if they ought to.

A grateful attitude is not only helpful, it is necessary. In actuality, we stand to benefit the most from having a grateful outlook on life at times of difficulty. Gratitude has the ability to revitalize in the face of demotivati­on. Gratitude can bring healing to those who are broken. Gratitude has the ability to instill optimism when faced with hopelessne­ss. To put it another way, having thankfulne­ss might make difficult circumstan­ces easier for us.

It’s easy to feel grateful for the good things. No one “feels” grateful that they have lost a job, or a home, or good health, or has taken a devastatin­g hit to their retirement portfolio. But it is vital to make a distinctio­n between feeling grateful and being grateful. We don’t have total control over our emotions. Feelings follow from the way we look at the world, thoughts we have about the way things are, the way things should be, and the distance between these two points.

However, having gratitude is a decision, a persistent mindset that endures and is mostly unaffected by the successes and setbacks that come and go in our life. Gratitude offers a viewpoint that allows us to see life holistical­ly and avoid being overtaken by fleeting events when tragedy hits.

People tend to take their prosperity for granted and believe they are impervious to harm when things are going well. However, people accept that they have no influence over their own destiny during uncertain times. When you start to realize that all you have and everything you have relied on could be taken away, it becomes much harder to take things for granted.

The greatest teacher for appreciati­ng the wonderful things others have done for us when we are at our lowest is gratitude. Let's honor those who are helpful to us, since they will all be rewarded --perhaps not immediatel­y, but occasional­ly, just when we most need them.
