BOC-Cebu conducts vaccination drive for employees, stakeholders
The Bureau of Customs Port of Cebu, in cooperation with the Cebu City Health Department, recently conducted a oneday Vaccination Drive in a bid to boost immunity against common respiratory illnesses this flu season.
Health officials prepared Influenza vaccines and Pneumococcal vaccines, which were administered to all Port of Cebu employees, stakeholders, brokers, processors, and the transacting public.
This initiative aimed to protect the employees and stakeholders of the Port of Cebu from the severe impacts of respiratory illnesses and help prevent the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases.
The vaccination drive is part of the Port’s commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, particularly amidst challenges posed by the pandemic.
BOC Cebu district collector District Collector Atty. Ricardo Morales II said that they were able to administer Influenza and Pneumococcal vaccines to 200 of their employees and stakeholders.
He said that this a testament to their collective commitment to public health and safety.
“As we continue to navigate through these challenging times, let us remain vigilant and proactive in our health practices. The success of this drive is a stepping stone towards a healthier, more resilient Port of Cebu. We look forward to implementing more such initiatives in the future,” said Morales.
He also emphasized the importance of vaccination recognizing that their workforce is their most valuable asset, and their wellbeing is a top priority.
“It is our responsibility to ensure their health and safety. By providing these additional vaccines, we aim to fortify their health defenses, ensuring that our port operations remain robust and uninterrupted,” said Morales in a statement posted in their Facebook post.
Morales said that as the world continues to face the challenges brought by the pandemic, initiatives like these demonstrate the power of community solidarity and the importance of public health initiatives in ensuring a safe, productive, and resilient society.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the health officers from the Cebu City Health Department headed by Dr. Daisy Villa, our dedicated staff, and every participant who contributed to making this drive a resounding success,” Morales further said. -
