The Human Resource Development Office of the Cebu City government is encouraging City Hall employees to join in-house training-seminars every month for their own career advancements.

HRDO offers seminars on “Verbal, Numerical, and Analytical Skills Training” for all employees.

Aside from that, HRDO will also offer a seminar on women empowerment next month in line with National Women’s Day.

This trainings are useful for those planning to take the Career Service examination.

Employees are also expected to take advantage of these training-seminars, especially that the City government is right-sizing.

The HRDO has earlier explained that right-sizing is not only about cutting the number of employees at the City Hall, but more importantly having employees who are fit and capable in their respective positions.

Meanwhile, aside from conducting trainings, the HRDO is also doing random house-to-house visits.

So far, they have already visited 43 City Hall employees since the start of this year.

Evelyn Cabando of HRDO’s Learning and Development Section said the house visits are aimed to connect City Hall employees to their departments.

“Ang house-to-house nga programa, gihimo ni siya para mahibaw-an nato kung para unsa gyud ang programa nga dapat ihatag sa atong mga empleyado sa umaabot,” said Cabando thru the City’s Sugboanon channel.

Cabando added that house visits have the employees’ consent.

“Kaning mga napilian, dili ni pasabot pud nga kani nga mga empleyado diretsohon nato’g adto sa ilahang balay, nagpapirma pud ta nila’g consent, base sa atong Data Privacy (Law),” added Cabando.

HRDO’s visitations are scheduled every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, where the said office’s personnel interviews City Hall employees on their concerns in relation to their respective jobs. -
