Oplan Disiplina violators given warnings

- Adelyn Landiza/RHM

The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) and a few Cebu City Government departments conducted “Oplan Disiplina” in three barangays yesterday morning, enforcing policies on cleanliness, health and safety, peace and order, and traffic.

Oplan Disiplina was contained in an executive order that Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama signed in 2022, to instill discipline in the community.

Yesterday, CCPO, led by Col. Ireneo Dalogdog, and personnel from the City Government’s Department of Public Services and Prevention, Restoration, Order, Beautification Enhancement (PROBE) visited barangays San Roque, Tejero, and Tinago to implement the executive order.

They were accompanied by tanods as well as the barangay captains of the three barangays.

Lt. Col. Janette Rafter, CCPO deputy director for operations, said that road clearing, cleanliness, proper disposal of garbage, and coordination with the tanods to better safeguard peace and order in the community were among the things they looked into yesterday.

She said that maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and peace and order remains a challenge, so she asked community to help as well as the barangay officials in the upkeep and in instilling discipline among their constituents.

"Gihangayo gyud nato ang ila gyung active participation, especially in the maintenance nga ana nga nasugdan nga mga proyekto ba. So dako gyud na siyang challenge, especially sa atong mga kaigsuonan or atong mga opisyales diha sa atong barangay," Rafter said.

Yesterday, individuals in the three barangays who were caught violating city were given a warning that violation tickets would already be issued if they are caught again.

Rafter said CCPO is planning to conduct another round of implementation of Oplan Disiplina in other urban areas and barangays in the coming weeks. —
