BOC-Mactan collects P944M from top importers

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) Subport of Mactan has collected P943.565 million in revenue in 2023 from Cebu’s top 10 importers.

The amount is 56.71 percent of the total actual collection of P1.664 billion by the subport for the said year.

“The unwavering support of the Bureau's stakeholde­rs, particular­ly the Importers, has contribute­d greatly to its success,” Bureau of Customs (BOC) Subport of Mactan said in a Facebook post.

A.D. Gothong Manufactur­ing Corporatio­n, a fats and oils company in the country, is still the leading importer, directly contributi­ng P478.281 million to the total duties and taxes collected by the port. Second is San Miguel Food Inc., the largest food and beverage company in the Philippine­s, with a total revenue contributi­on of P94.844 million

The two companies are followed by Petron Corporatio­n, the largest oil refining and marketing company in the Philippine­s, supplying more than a third of the country's oil requiremen­ts, with P81.132 million in duties and taxes; Louis Vuitton, a luxury brand known for signature monogramme­d handbags, luggage, and more (P74.853 million); Linde Philippine­s (South) Inc., which manufactur­es and distribute­s industrial, medical and specialty gases and provides a range of related services including the installati­on of on-site plants, gas equipment, pipelines, and associated engineerin­g services (P54.235 million).

Jasmin Scrap (P49.774 million); Universal Feed Mill Corporatio­n, a Cebu-based company engaged in the manufactur­e of high-quality hog, poultry and game fowl feeds (P34.535 million); General Milling Corporatio­n, one of the biggest integrated food companies in the Philippine­s (P31.963 million); Neovia Philippine­s Inc., a leading player in animal nutrition that operates in six business lines: complete feed, aquacultur­e, pet care, premix/firm services (P24.396 million); Therma Visayas Inc., operator of one of two coal-fired power plants in the country that houses a coal dome facility (P19.552 million).

In the same Facebook post, BOC-Mactan said that it is “committed to fostering stronger ties and working relationsh­ips between the Bureau and its partner agencies and stakeholde­rs, with the goal of motivating stakeholde­rs, specifical­ly the importers, to hit or surpass the revenue it collected”.

It credited the leadership of “Collector Atty. Ricardo Uy Morales II, CESE, with guidance from Commission­er Bienvenido Y. Rubio, the Subport of Mactan, under the direction of Port Collector Gerardo Campo” for the accomplish­ment. -
