Charter Day bonus a bit delayed

Cebu City Hall employees can expect the Charter Day bonus not on Charter Day itself on the 24th but perhaps on Wednesday, the 28th, this according to Vice Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia.

This is because as of yesterday the City Council still has yet to get a hold of the proposal of the Charter Day bonus for City Hall employees.

In an interview yesterday, Garcia said the City Council has yet to receive the official proposal from the executive department on the Supplemental Budget 1 that contains the Charter Day bonus.

“As I have found out nga ilahang gi-propose nga Charter Day bonus diri sa Cebu City Council is ₱25,000,” said Garcia.

However, he added that they have yet to know how much the bonus for the job order employees will be, or if there will be a bonus granted to them at all.

Pending the submission of the official proposal, the City Council also has yet to deliberate its approval.

With this, Garcia said that it is no longer possible that the bonuses will be given on the same day as Charter Day.

“Sigurado g’yud ta nga mahuman nalang ang Charter Day celebration which is 22, which is tonight and then our Charter Day is 24 di pa g’yud na mahatag, so I am expecting to receive it next Wednesday,” said Garcia.

He said one reason why the submission of the proposal could have been delayed was that this supplemental budget does not only contain the budget for the Charter Day bonuses but also for other items.

Aside from this, Garcia said that the process also includes the approval of the Annual Investment Plan (AIP) that will have to be discussed with the Cebu City Development Council.

“Mao na nga ilang i-approve ang AIP, then once ma-approve ang AIP, they will link their Supplemental Budget 1 with the AIP,” said Garcia.

Since the AIP has already been approved this week, the proposal for the Supplemental Budget 1 is expected to be discussed before the City Council this Wednesday.

Garcia said that despite the delay, the granting of the Charter Day bonus has already been assured.
