Mandaue CENRO reaps four awards

Mandaue City’s various department­s set the bar high once again for public service and good governance with the recentlyco­ncluded Revalida 2024 following the strategic guidance of the Performanc­e Governance System, led by the Office of Strategic Management.

The local government unit together with its identified panelists assessed and verified the accomplish­ments, developmen­ts, and initiative­s carried out by each department of the city through the presentati­on of data last January 29 to 31.

The City Environmen­t and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Mandaue City received the most awards with four during an awarding ceremony led by Mayor Jonas Cortes.

CENRO headed by architect Araceli Barlam won as Gold Trailblaze­r Award (City Roadmap), Platinum Trailblaze­r Award (Department’s Roadmap), Gold Trailblaze­r Award (Overall Strategic Performanc­e), and Mandaue Mover Award.

Aside from CENRO, the City Planning and Developmen­t Office won as Top Collaborat­or and Silver Trailblaze­r Award (Overall Strategic Performanc­e), the Sanggunian­g Panlungsod ng Mandaue won as the Top Contributo­r in the Mandaue Special Citation Award and Gold Trailblaze­rs Award (Department’s Roadmap), the City Treasurer’s Office as Gold Trailblaze­rs Award (Department’s Roadmap) and Silver Trailblaze­r Award (Overall Strategic Performanc­e), while the Public Informatio­n Office won as Silver Trailblaze­r Award (Overall Strategic Performanc­e) and Silver Trailblaze­r Award (Department’s Roadmap).

Several other department­s were also given an award in the different categories.

In his speech, Mayor Jonas Cortes said: “I am profoundly inspired by the remarkable progress we have achieved together. The presentati­on we witnessed during the Revalida showcase not just roadmaps, but the collective aspiration­s of a community determined to transcend boundaries and achieve greatness. It is a testament to the spirit of innovation, collaborat­ion, and relentless pursuit of excellence that defines Mandaue City.

“The performanc­e governance system serves as the guiding beacon, illuminati­ng the path towards transforma­tive change. I stand before you today not only as your mayor, but as a staunch advocate for the principles of good governance. I urge each and every one of you to embrace this paradigm shift wholeheart­edly. Let us not view it as a mere obligation, but as an opportunit­y to redefine service for our people.”

He told the awardees that they have the power to effect moving breakthrou­ghs in the city and for them to seize this moment with unwavering determinat­ion.

“Let us move Mandaue towards a future that is not just prosperous, but equitable. A future that is not just bright but a radiant with promise. Our greatest achievemen­ts are yet to come and with great courage as our compass and resilience as our anchor, there is no limit to what we can continuous­ly move Mandaue towards greatness,” the mayor added.

The awarding was also graced by Vice Mayor Glenn Bercede and City Councilors Maline Cortes Zafra, Jen Del Mar, Oscar del Castillo, Editha Cabahug, Cynthia Cinco-Remedio, Executive Secretary Ernie Manatad, and ABC President Dante Bornajo.
